5 Minute Muesli

5 Minute Muesli

This 5 minute  muesli recipe comes from my sweet friend Marie.  We run together, and one day our friend’s made this at their house after a run.  It hit the spot.  I made it a bunch last year, around apple season. I forgot about it until this week, I have had a box of apples in the garage that need to be used up.  So far with the apples I have made roasted apple sauce, apple butter, apple arugula salads with honey mustard dressing, apple cider, and this muesli.

This muesli is SO easy to put together, you don’t even need to cook it.  The best part- it lasts for a long time in the fridge. This means breakfast is done- for a few days!!  Easy for husbands to have breakfast before work, or take with them, easy for kids going to school, and easy for mom-no work involved!

My only problem with the original recipe is that  it was really soggy by the end, and the kids didn’t want to eat it anymore.  So I re-did the recipe and added less apples, and less mandarin oranges-it did the trick.  Isaiah and  Skye, ate it no problem even on the third and fourth day.  If you do get sick of it by the end you could always add a cup of water to a cup of muesli, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and cook it to make apple cinnamon hot cereal.

What’s your favorite quick breakfast?

Just finished making the Muesli and it is AWESOME. My wife does not really like dates but I made a small taste test with each and she like the one with dates, so I did not have to half the recipe-haha! We put them mix in smaller containers right away so we take one out of the fridge and go. We are also looking forward to how it tastes when the ingredients “fuse a little more” together. Thank you!!

This looks great and I cant wait to try it! Would you be able to suggest a substitution for the almonds (allergy)? Sunflower seeds or cashews perhaps? Thanks!

This sounds like an interesting combination!

Hi Just a couple of questions. Could I just chop of the apple fairly fine? Also is the pineapple tidbits, chunks, crushed? Does it matter?

Hi Shari! I shred the apple, but you can chop it up fine as well. With the pineapple whatever texture you like best-I like pineapple chunks.
