Beginner's Luck Green Smoothie

Green smoothies!  You know I love ’em.  They’re such a great way to pack green goodness into yourself and your little ones every day.  This recipe comes from Jen and Jadah from Simple Green Smoothies.  One thing I really like about it is that it’s perfect if you are new to the green smoothies world.

If you need tips on the best methods for freezing greens (yes you can, they freeze beautifully) or freezing fruit for green smoothies check out this post here.

My beginner recipe starts with 1 cup of spinach or other greens, working up to 2 cups or more as the beginner gets used to the taste of greens! I use frozen mixed berries and milk or yogurt if the person tolerates dairy well. 🙂

Yum, have you ever used chia seeds in your smoothies? I want to start adding them to my sons breakfast smoothie, I’ve never had them but I see them at Whole Foods and Sprouts.

Hi Kate! Yes I have. I reccommend drinking them right away because they tend to thicken your smoothies quite a bit.

Just add a bit more liquid so when the Chia seeds expand, the liquid will take care of it.

I also only do 1/2 the fruit. Way to much fruit for me.

Hi Mary! That is a great idea to half the fruit so it isn’t as much sugar. This recipe is for people who are just beginning with green smoothies and are scared of the green taste. But it is always a good idea to adapt it to your liking.
