Blender Show Down Part 2

vitamix vs blendtec

Hi friends!

Last post got quite the reaction!  Turns out that people are as passionate about their blenders as I am about mine! That’s awesome.  I just wanted to do a follow up post to the show down to clarify a few things.

The last post was in no means to make you feel like you can’t do green smoothies or smoothies in general without a high-powered blender.  Please blend on with whatever you have, the point is to get as many greens in as possible.  You don’t have to have a high-powered blender to make them.  I will say though if you have ever tried a smoothie from one of them, there is a noticeable difference.  I love my blender not just for smoothies, but to make healthy ice cream, almond butter, hummus, flour, almond meal to bake with, and the list goes on.  But by all means, blend with whatever makes you happy.

I also wanted to let you know I love Vitamix too.  It sounds like from the comments they have a new jar that is shorter and combats the problem of the Vitamix taking up more space.  If you read the post you will see that we love both companies and frankly are the only two high-powered blenders I would spend my money on.  For the video Marci had to reach around to start the machine and did get a late start.  In her defense it was hard to see from behind.  Vitamix still produced a beautiful creamy smoothie.

As far as the Ninja.  I personally would not buy it.  I know there are plenty of people out there that own one and love it.  For me though, I would rather save up and have a 7-year warranty and a more versatile machine.  I have a friend that has owned one for a few months and wants to buy a Blendtec now.  The texture just isn’t the same.  If you are a Ninja fan, please don’t ninja me, that is just my two cents and you can by all means get whatever blender makes you happy.

A lot of questions have come in about the Nutribullet.  I am so sorry I have never tried it and can’t give you an opinion on it either way.  I am curious to try it though.  I will try it and let you know what I think.

Again use whatever blender you love and focus on getting all the GREEN GOODNESS you possibly can!!

Nutribullet is on the same level as Ninja blender. I have so many friends that Nutribullet eventually broke and they wished they had went on ahead, spent more on a better quality blender. You are correct, at least there is a 7 yr warranty on VitaMix and Blendtec, with more opportunity to repair instead of going into the landfill. I have a Bosch kitchen machine with a blender attachment and I have to admit, Vita Mix beats it when it comes to making smoothies, soups, mixes, etc. And I like the dry blender blade for grinding beans into flour, and whole grains. Anyway, good article, keep up the great work that you do Desi.

I have a Nutribullet and a Vitamix. I like them both for different reasons. The Vitamix i great when I’m making smoothies, especially for more than one person. Although after watching the video, I’m wondering if I would prefer the Blendtec. The smoothie it made looked thinner and smoother. Maybe it had to do with the late start on the Vitamix like you said. I use the Nutribullet to make individual smoothies, especially on the run because you drink right from the container, so no washing until you’re done drinking. Definitely not the same quality as the Vitamix, but still good, and cheap so if it breaks soon I’m ok with that. But my kids use the Nutribullet to make smoothies all the time – that makes it worth it’s salt just for that. They don’t always want to clean the Vitamix and they like making their own recipes in individual cups. For that reason, it will continue to live on my counter…right next to the Vitamix 😀

I sure thought I had a high power blender, but the green smoothie challenge has shown me otherwise. It would be so awesome to win a blendtec!!!
