Caramel Apple Dip Recipe

 Caramel Apple Dip Recipe

Making your own caramel dip is super easy, it’s a lot easier than unwrapping all of the pre-made caramels from the store, and it tastes a million times better.  Caramel can feel overwhelming because sometimes you need a candy thermometer but this recipe doesn’t use one and it only has four ingredients.  Simple.

I  took apples and caramel dip  to Sunday dinner instead of a fruit platter, because I am still in the middle of my challenge to not go to the grocery store for an entire month.

By the way I am on day 22!! I have almost made it the entire month without going to the grocery store. I have only spent 32 dollars at the U-pick. With the 32 dollars I bought, 2 giant butternut squashes, broccoli, lettuce, 12 pounds of red potatoes, yellow and red peppers, hot peppers, eggplant, green beans, leeks, red lettuce, 2 1/2 dozen corn, and a crenshaw melon.

I did cheat twice and buy a pack of gum, and a big thing of Adams peanut butter at Costco, I have a small addiction to peanut butter. I love Adams because it doesn’t have anything added to it, just plain old peanuts and salt, no hydrogenated oils and sugars.

With the  month of not going to the grocery store challenge we have been eating a TON of apples, donated from my neighbors trees. Right now I have more apples than I know what to do with. Note to self don’t ever can applesauce again, it is too cheap to spend hours boiling, saucing, and canning. I think I am just going to finish up all of my apples by dehydrating them. I can buy unsweetened applesauce for a couple of bucks. Yesterday I spent from 9 in the morning to 9 at night yesterday, and I still have to clean up the sticky apple goo on my card table outside.

The upside I got to hang out in my back yard on a beautiful sunny day and let Isaiah jump around in our new bounce house I picked up at at a yard sale for 30 dollars!!! So worth every penny. Who knows maybe next year I will forget the hours of work and go through the torture again, it is actually kind of fun for the first couple of hours.

With the rest of my apples I am going to dip them in caramel, so yummy.
