People who have success with improving their health make little changes over time to become healthier, and even lose weight. Maybe they stop drinking soda for a day, then a week and eventually even a month. You can’t expect to change all your bad habits at once. In fact, you should always replace bad habits with a positive one. So if soda is your kryptonite, find something to replace it with; maybe a fruit infused water, low calorie non-carbonated drink, or even an herbal tea. Then as you gradually progress, you will find yourself not needing the extra sweetness and chances are you will move onto water.

As far as exercising goes, you don’t need to spend hours working every single muscle in your body. Even just getting a good sweat going and hitting your target heart rate can be very beneficial to fat loss. Here is a 22 minute workout that will really get you pumped and ready for the day. It is a gradual hill climb and descent where you will do the fastest speed for only one minute, while spending two on the others. I do this multiple times a week, especially when I am crunched for time. If you are new to running on a treadmill, start out at less than a 6.0 speed. Maybe try a fast walk at 4.0 and then see how you feel after a few minutes.
