Homemade Salsa

Tomatoes are not in season yet, and salsa can be expensive, the solution make your own with canned tomatoes and fresh ingredients. My Aunt taught me this great trick, you can make salsa in five minutes using a can. It is so simple you can have “fresh” salsa all year round. I always love to have salsa on hand, you can obviously eat it with tortilla chips, flax crackers, or even sliced up cucumbers (they make great “chips”). Salsa is also good to use as a base for chili, or tortilla soup, or I love to put it on eggs, over rice and beans, and as a salad dressing, a lot of flavor and nutrients with very little calories.

    This looks beautiful Desiree. I like the shortcut of using the canned tomatoes. I know a lot of people use fresh tomatoes but I just don’t have that kind of time to prep them, so I love any short cuts I can get. 🙂

      Ali, I know, I definitely have to pick my battles what I have time to do. Try it with Rotil canned tomatoes in the Mexican section they have really good flavor. I love the name of your blog by the way, jamhands is so cute.

      Abby thanks for stopping by! This is easy way to make salsa, takes a lot of time out of chopping up all of the tomatoes, and now you can make it year round! Let me know how it turns out for you.
