The Perfect Recovery Bar

 The Perfect Recovery Bar

Bryn's Amazing Recovery Bar

I am so excited to do another FUN GIVE AWAY and post a fantastic recovery bar that has become a staple in our house!

A few months back I did a mountain bike race, 12 hours in Mesa Verde, with a bunch of our good friends.  The race is 12 hours and the teams that get the most laps in win.  We had a team of four girls.  It was a really fun course.  The only bummer was I broke my chain the first lap and had to run my bike back a mile to the starting line!  I ended up having to borrow someone else’s bike for the remaining laps.  A little crazy but SO fun.

One of our friends,  Bryn Bingham, was down at the race with her husband racing a duo team. Which means she did double the amount of laps that we did, in a more competitive bracket.  She is a talented personal trainer, and crazy FAST on her mountain bike.  While we were doing the race Bryn shared with us her homemade recovery bars.  She made this recipe up to be the perfect balance of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and electrolytes to repair your body after a  workout or race.  Not only will they help you repair and rebuild your muscles for faster recovery but they TASTE AMAZING!!

I started making these for my kids after swimming lessons.  We call them swimming lesson bars.  You don’t have to do a crazy endurance race or work out to enjoy them :).

Bryn was nice enought to share the recipe with us and give away a FREE body composition OR 30 minute phone consultation to one lucky reader.

I mentioned that Bryn was a personal trainer, not just any trainer but a legit one.  She has a bachelors degree in Exercise science, is a nationally certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, through the NSCA, and was a division 1 college athlete.    The thing I like about Bryn is she not only helps with exercise part of it, she looks at nutrition too, which is  essential to reach your goals.

I don’t see the link for the energy bar recipe either. Did a search for it with no results/

I use a hemp protein powder – has a mild flavor. I don’t care for flavored protein powders I thought I might add cocoa powder but I rather not have chocolate flavored bars. Anyone have other ideas? Would like to try this recipe if I can tweak it! Thanks

    • Desi says:

Hi Ellen! Hemp protein powder is a great idea. I wonder if you add orange rind, or something that has a strong flavor.
